Ok, KITM, I'll play your silly game.
Yes. I would fire him.

Without naming any names If you knew of a head coach that had coaching record of 36 wins and 44 losses in his first head coaching job and then started his second head coaching job years later going 5-15 and had only 1 winning season in his first 6 years as a head coach would you want to keep the guy or think he is a lousy coach and should be fired?

Yes it was Belicheck and I wonder how many arm chair owners were yelling for him to be fired in his second year at NE.
Yeah I got confused...LOL I know he and Norv had identical records minus the superbowls of course. I dont see Norb approaching his resume though, sorry mate. But to be fair to Norv he is the type of coach Uncle Al loves and I am afraid that is the type will be seeing for the foreseeable future.Originally Posted by KERRYISTHEMAN

Blitz as usual I agree with you 100%. The post wasnt to say Norv is a great coach. The post was just to illustrate that you cant judge every coach soley by their record at that time. Heck it was only 2 seasons ago that many the Steelers fans wanted Cowher fired.Originally Posted by blitz75
Oh dont get me wrong I know you werent saying Norv is great or anything like that. I knw exactly what you were saying, I just wanted to add that this is the type of coach we will see for a long time. Belicheck has the discipline gene something not tolerated in Raider landOriginally Posted by KERRYISTHEMAN
Great post. But you know what's funny? If Bledsoe never gets hurt, and Brady never comes in, Belicheck's tenure in NE may have ended just like his tenure in Cleveland!
I just made a similar point in a different thread. These PLAYERS need to do their part, break a tackle, force a fumble, etc. Do the things that make a difference between winning and losing. We've been in position to win every game this year except last week. And the coaches' job is to put their players in position to win games...
Bow Cowher I would love to haveOriginally Posted by KERRYISTHEMAN
The problem with that pathology is the Belichek showed signs of live, gave hope, tweaked things just enough to win. I was hoping that we would see that from Norv last week. The comparison is a good one, but the outcome depends on what Norv does this week and the next and the next and the next, ad nosium...Originally Posted by KERRYISTHEMAN
More to the point of not being able to judge a coach soley by his record. Mike Martz is one of the NFL's whipping boys. People claim he is dumb, cant manage the clock, etc etc. Yet he has one of the best regular season winning percentages around.
My biggest concern with Norv is he has a rep of being this offensive genius but I just do not see any imagination in the play calling. We are way beyond consistent in regards to play calling. We are downright predictable. The average coach spends 100's of hours a week with many of them breaking down film. I bet it takes them half the time on us. I see teams like Pitt with reps for running the ball show a lot more imagination via play calling. We really need to mix things up much better. Lets confuse a defense for once. You almost never see one of our guys wide open because the opposing teams defense got confused but I see it happen a lot in other games.
Belicheck is one example where as you could show the rest ending up as a failure. We already had this parallel universe comparison of Belicheck and Norv already and well we are 5 weeks in and Norv isn't living up to his end to be the mirror coach. What we need to really mirror all of this is our starting statue QB to go down and the young QB to come in and run the table, he'll get hurt in the AFC Champ game and the statue will save us for one day. The young QB will then with 3 out of the next 4 Lombardi’s and someday KITM will be in Dallas forums preaching the gospel of Kerry as he leads the Cowboys!
(THAT IS YOUR MIRROR COMPARISON AND WHAT HAS TO HAPPEN for NORV=BELICHECK IS TO BE TRUE) I am taking all bets at this time for the !=.
Interesting. So how do you think Norv has changed from being Offensive Coordinator to head coach? Has he delegated duties to Jimmy Raye and this is the guy we should be showing the pink slip to? I actually think this maybe the case but I would still have expected Norval to have his say here which does not appear to be happening.Originally Posted by KERRYISTHEMAN
