An appeal to Raidernation from a Saints fan

Hey, Raidernation. I first came here after y'all cheered for the Saints at their first preseason game after the hurricane. The support I got from this board was really heartwarming. I'm back with a request.

San Antonio, led by its mayor, is trying to keep the Saints permanently.
    http://www.nola.com/sports/t-p/index...5434205800.xml

Last Monday, owner Tom Benson fired Arnold Fielkow, reportedly for releasing a report that ticket sales had spiked for the Saints first home game in Baton Rouge. http://www.wwltv.com/sports/saints/s...105048a2c.html

Many of us believe that Benson wanted to depress ticket sales in Baton Rouge so he could argue to the league that he can't make money in Louisiana and then he could move the team to San Antonio.

Our board has jumped all over this. www.saintsreport.com We are doing everything we can to promote ticket sales in Baton Rouge, including collecting money and paying for radio spots in Louisiana and the Gulf Coast, asking people to support the games in Baton Rouge.

I'm not here to ask for money, though. What we're doing is asking other teams to make a sign for us at their games. Philly is helping already, and I thought I'd come ask Raidernation for two reasons: first is, well to be honest, I like you because you were nice to me; but I also thought that you know what it's like to lose your team to another city. We're making signs at our game in Baton Rouge on October 30 against the Phins. Tag will be at that game. We even have plans for a sign behind a plane to fly over Tiger Stadium We're asking other fans at other games to make signs this weekend and next supporting the Saints staying in New Orleans. Something positive and to the point like "The Saints Belong in New Orleans."

Guys and gals, I personally think that this is a lot to ask. My own belief is that signs at games should support your team, and any air time given to a Saints sign is air time taken from one supporting the Raiders. I wouldn't normally ask, but it's so important to us. You know what it's like to lose your team, and we're faced with losing our team while the city is clawing its way back from the worst natural disaster in the nation's history. Taking our team under these circumstances would be--well, one reporter said it would make Art Modell look honorable.

There's something in it for you, since if the Saints stay in New Orleans, you get to visit The Big Easy when the Raiders play the Saints. (Actually, the first regular season game I saw in the Superdome was Saints-Raiders. You broke our qb's ankle.)

Since Philly is helping, I wanted to let y'all know what we're up to. Please help us send a message to the league that there is widespread support for the Saints staying in New Orleans. Our best weapon is public opinion.

    Thanks Raidernation.

I am not going to the game, but I bet somebody will honor your request. Did you hear that the Raiders are giving away tickets to the game to displaced families from NO who are staying in Oakland. Best wishes.

    LETS GO RAIDERS!

Yeah, and foistered the Jekell-and-Hyde nightmare that is Aaron Brooks upon you. Heh.

I agree completely though, trying to move the Saints under these circumstances is just completely deplorable...any little thing can help.

I'm sorry that this is happening to you guys. Unfortunately I won't be at the game but do hope that everything will work out for you!! I believe the Saints should stay where they belong and that's N.O.!! Damn Texas already have 2 teams. Why do they need another team!!!!

It can say anything that is positive and gets the point across easily. We don't want to diss San Antonio. Something like "Raidernation says the Saints belong in New Orleans." Or "Keep the Saints in New Orleans." One of ours will say "Fix the Dome and Bring 'Em Home." You could do that one with a fleur de lis to make it clear what you're talking about. How about "Black and Silver: Oakland. Black and Gold: New Orleans."

Love it. Just be sure to put the fleur de lis so they'll know you're talking about the Saints.
