After the Game; KC v. OAK, Thoughts?

Plusses:

T.Kelly continues to be a beast, he is stretching out rushing plays to his side and making the opposing ball carrier to bounce it out and the LBs are making plays. Morrison is very active...Clark played well and Ted Washington held down the middle, making several solid tackles, one in the first half where he moved nicely laterally down the line and good penetration late!

Schweigert, YES...AGAIN. He has been steady all pre-season and 1st two games. Last week people biitched about his play, I dont see it...this kid is a missile in run support and in coverage he is vastly improves (as he had Gonzalez on a few plays too).

Burgess, recording a sack...THANK GOD. We recorded a sack...now we need to force some turnovers on Defense. Our defense lacks disruptors, guys that can force turnovers, disrupt offenses consistently and cause sacks...He did that tonight, forcing bad throws late by Green and causing him to move out of the pocket...we need more of this!

Jordan looked GREAT...GREAT pick-up on a blitz in which COllins was able to complete a 20 yarded to Porter. Great running and receiving...too bad about that long run and penalty. And too bad about the dropped where he had alot of run in front of him to run!

J.Cooper...Best special team player weve had since...Randy Jordan!!! This guy is always on point!!!

Gibson played alot better...And, he did a solid job on Gonzo.

3rd down Defense; Awsome job, but we couldnt keep it up all game...it drains a team, as we needed to put them in difficult spots on 2nd down and long 3rd downs more often...

Minuses:
S.Routt...teams are finding him in coverage!
C.Carr...the muffed punt...

Collins, needed to be more careful with the ball...YES, the pressure is there, but many QBs face pressure and he has to just be careful with the ball and live to see another day with the offense! He had another good game, I think he wouldve been better if....

THE OLINE DID A BETTER JOB START PROTECTING HIM! Cause we wont get anything going...Collins isnt a good QB with his feet moving, and we need to keep him in the pocket!

Penalties, Mistakes etc...typical Raider stuff!!!

R.Hill, he wanted to be physical against Parker, he got called for the penalty, and then allowed the big 49 yd pass. WAKE UP!


Oh as for Moss, that was a BS call on him on the TD, calle dback TD...The guy amazes how he can catch anything thrown up to him...Kerry will be feasting all season...Porter, good job as he is 100% and shoed it. As for Curry, folks, they didnt have alot for Curry this week, and didnt game plan alot for him...Hope his injury isnt serious, as he still needs to get acclamated into the game and not game ready as D.Gabriel should be ready in a few...\\

at this point we can say how impressed we are with alot of the play, but 2-0 going into philly... if we start 3-0 it will be very hard to overcome that. the egos on are team will come out of the woodwork, people will start pointing fingers, then we can kiss the season good-bye......... we need to upset philly....


my #1 problem is why our defense isnt sending in any blitzes, obviously just rushing the 4 lineman isnt good enough... cmon how many 3rd down and longs do you have to give up before you actually send in a blitz

I gotta disagree on Schweigert. I think he's an active guy, always around in the play, but I think he just lacks the size to play in the NFL. Too thin, too small. He'll disrupt plays but won't make the actual tackles - worthless on his own, a support player.

Without the team wakes up and starts to play smart, they may go 0 - 4 or worse. Play like tonight's will not get it done in the NFL. The Raiders just did not play smart.

Dropped passes....mistakes...penalties killed you guys at the wrong time. Maybe Sharpe was right about the route running.... I mean...to let a LB run with you.(moss) wasnt a real show of heart..... the Collins run on 3RD and 21 where Moss could see Collins running and not looking downfield, then throws his arm up? .... Whatever happened to running to your QB?...Break off your route and cross the middle

I thought the D did good...but we need to start getting to the QB alot more and actually hitting the hell out of them. We need to create more turn overs [ hell of a job by Woodson].

The Wrs need to start running there routes..they were very hesitant and feeling there way around. Lamont had to get focused after a bad play and not let him affect th way he plays the next. Good ruuning by him though and blocking. Catching with him is a whole never story.

Kerry Collins is okay for the team we have now but we need a QB who is more of a leader. I want him to seem like he has more confidence and is not afraid. He is just stricking me arfaid to be in the spot light at times.

And we need to get DISIPLINED!!! Stop shooting our selfs in the foot.

This team needs to losen up and have fun...play football raider style...with out fear.

dude, there were two guys behind moss, if he would have kept running they would have all surrounded him.

and he had no choice but to run, it was 3rd and 20+ he wouldnt have picked it up anyway, chefs played good defense on that, and we killed ourselves because of a penalty to put us in that situation.

The one thing I have noticed about Collins that doesn't seem to change is that he has a poor feel for the rush. He hangs out in the pocket and doesn't seem to be able to sense when the rush is coming and when it isn't.
