I think we should use both the 3-4 and the 4-3.
Simple question and why, as for myself I prefer the 4-3 defense to start because I dont think our linebackers are fast enough for this type of defense, especially if we have guys like Tyler as a linebacker, which I think he is better off on the line, what do u guys think?

No matter what we think. Norv and Rob are going to use a mix of both from what they have stated perviously.Originally Posted by METALHEAD

Ummmm.....
how about Rob Ryans defense?
you know.. the one that he is going to run...
the system that clearly features components of the 34/43/46
that one..
Go Raiders.
Yeah but I think if the 3-4 is going to work all the time, the team need fast linebackers, and speed is important when u run a 3-4 defense.
I think we have a very fast defense...
Go Raiders.
4-3 only PLEASE!!! Tyler Brayton is not a linebacker, leave him on the line. He puts pressure on the QB and he plays the run excellently from the DE.

Hopefully the 4-3, with Sapp back at his natural position and Washington (or Kelly) beside him, it will work out fine, not to mention Burgess and Hamilton on the sides. I think the trio of Clark in the middle, Foreman outside, and maybe Kirk on the other side the 4-3 would work perfectly. I'm not trying to be a junior GM or anything, I just think it would work well with the players that we have and the great depth at D-line.

4-3 all the way!!

Foreman was signed for 3-4 purposes only. He cannot play outside LB. He is a solid inside LB. I think our team has the ability to play 3-4 if we stay healthy. Williams Foreman-Clark-Morrison is perfect for the 3-4. Burgess-Sapp-Hamilton is our best bet for the line. 3-4 is much harder to read than the 4-3. With the speed of our secondary, the 3-4 is almost a neccesity. Apparently Brayton is going to be used as an outside LB which bothers me. He might be a great athlete. However, Cal Ripken Jr. is a great athlete also, but he can't play OLB. Some people are just meant to be something. Brayton was meant to be a DE.Originally Posted by randymoss18rdrs
