some were b4 draft and FA signings.
looks like we took care of some needs.
Look for him to be replaced from within, as OG Brad Badger is a more-than-capable replacement. <--- Ha!
I think our LBs are gonna be decent, especially against the run, with the additions of Foreman and Morrison. I am just concerned about our LBs when they are forced to drop back into coverage as none of them fair particularly well in that department. The safety positions are a major concern as well and is our ability to apply a pass rush... in my opinion.
I think we will do pretty well at CB with a handful of our young talent battling out for nickle and dime positions. I think Hill and CWood are our starting corners.
nah Hill is not fast enough, hes a Safety/Nickelback.
I think it would be dumb to start Hill because he is a much better nickelback then a 2-string, one of the reads I got on him when we signed them that he was one of the best nickelbacks in the game because hes aware and is a smart CB. a 4.2 or 4.3 WR might be more then he can handle constantly, if he were up against a Mike Williams he could handle him. Nnmadi has had the game experience, now its time to learn he has the ability to play CB well and he'll start and do a lot better then p-buc did.
The first link says that we need to bring in competetion for the SS position to compete with Gibson... Marques Anderson may not be the best S in the world, but he is a solid back up/decent starter at best so I think that right there is competetion for Gibson (who IMO should start)
yea he is solid comp. but maybe he is thinking someone like thomas davis would of pushed gibson even more, thomas davis IMO is someone we should of moved up for or drafted if we had not traded for moss, im happy with fabian really but, if somehow someway we could of gotten both oh man what a great draft it would of been, Davis is gonna be the next big thing in the NFL talk about an athlete he plays SS, FS, and OLB. Woulda pretty much tooken care of every need we had on defense single handedly.
I agree with your assessment on Hill somewhat. He will have trouble with the more speedy guys. But in in my opinion, he is the second best corner on the team (as of now, hopefully that will change as we grrom our young talent) and will find his way into the starting line up as he did year after year with Arizona, even though he'd start the season out at Nickle.
If he started as the 2nd corner, no doubt he will have let downs and get burned from time to time. But in my opinion, he will give us more consistent play than Namndi. Hill is a gritty, smart corner with instincts.
I agree with the guy, I think we need to bring in another safety. Gibson is a bust and Anderson is pretty bad in pass coverage. We need a vetran.
nnmandi is young though, knows the defensive scheme better. This is nnamdi's chance to prove his worth he could very well be better then hill, nnmadi has yet to prove that he sucks or prove that hes good, only difference is he was next in line, and knows the scheme. If hill does beat him out I want to see nnamdi contend at FS since it was his natural position, he is training with Ronnie Lott, and he was first round quality CB/FS.
I do believe Gibson has had enough time to get comfortable with the defensive scheme, I dont believe he has had enough time to prove his worth barring injury, backed up woodson at FS his rookie year, the next year he played I believe 12 games, the next year 14. Last year he was out the full season but he showed light during pre-season, this is his last chance if he gets the starting job I believe that hes a FA next year, so if he doesnt show up he wont be re-signed but I have faith in him as others have faith in Stu, Anderson is not fast enough nor athletic enough to be a full time SS, hes a big dude who can hit hard and thats all he has going for him, but that hard hitting aint gonna help us win football games all it does it make a highlight reel.
Well, you are definitely on target with that statement.... I'd say this is without a doubt Gibson's final chance to prove himself.
I don't get it, I remember him coming out of college, I was so high on him. I really thought that was a good pick up, because he seemed to possess all the tools and then some.
some people need more time then others,
did you watch the pre-season last year? some people question why I back gibson so much well its because my first real look at gibson was pre-season and he was damn impressive I was so dissapointed that he went down in fact I blamed a lot of the secondaries problems on his injury. I really didnt notice him in 2003 messing up or in 2002 because Dorsett and Buchanon were messing up 10 x worst that it shadowed gibson's mistakes.
I dunno, I think Gibson has had plenty of opportunity. I remember thinking he looked improved in the preseason, but I wasn't THAT impressed. Besides, I don't put MUCH stock in minicamp and preseason. The only real way to tell is REAL game time situations.
yeah
I dont think its been plenty of opportunity though, his rookie year doesnt really count, sophmore year you expect mistakes, the year after that he showed flashes but that was it so this is his true year to prove his worth, not every first rounder is gonna turn out like Ed Reed right away so this will be the year we should really determine how god Gibson really is.
I mean, Stu is gonna make mistakes this year as well, maybe not next year but your not experienced until your at gibsons point in his career.
