its a business, you win some u lose some, if he stays good and he leaves hope we can get some good picks. he is not greedy trying to play the system like al does, just trying to get what he is worth. simple as that.
Yeah if he really wants to be a Raider for life he'd sign a long term and do whatever he can besides his play on the field to help this team out!

I hate to bring it up again, but the Patriots used a no name secondary last season and AL has a lot of no name Db's hanging around, plus the draft is tomorrow. Woodson can help or hurt us....AL will figure out which it is very soon.

Doing business with the Postons' is like dealing with a Mortgage company that has you locked in with a high interest rate because you were desperate at the time and now you have a pre-payment penalty for 3 years at 12 months interest and you can't afford to get out. (sorry, bad experience) Damn Postons.![]()
One thing that I haven't seen mentioned in the 5,000 woodson posts is that with the new TV contracts, the salary cap is going to go way up in a year or two (assuming that they approve the collective bargaining agreement extension). If the extension doesn't go on then the cap is gone. Either way signing him to a big money deal now actually could save money in the long run.
I heard a guy who talks about the business of sports on local talk radio show talking about how the salaries for the NFL could be in the NBA range soon and how the cap is going to make a huge increase.
The more I hear about it, the more I think it makes sense to sign Woodson long term even if the Raiders have to overpay a bit. This is a right now league. Signing long term would allow at least one more Vet player ( Hartwell!!) to come in and help the D.
Hey Willis... pass this on to AL...![]()
If the cap goes I truely feel football will be fuucked for a long ..long time. It will turn into a free for all with the rich teams scooping up all the talent...........It will ruin the league.(assuming that they approve the collective bargaining agreement extension). If the extension doesn't go on then the cap is gone

Wheelin' and Davis dealin'
April 22
San Francisco Chronicle: "Speculation has raged this week that the Raiders and Redskins would swap Woodson for the second of Washington's two first-round selections, No. 25 overall. But Redskins vice president of football operations, Vinny Cerrato, has said publicly that no such exchange will take place."
Maybe, maybe not.
He has done numerous interviews w/ ESPN in 2 plus years...
In everyone, he says...'I want to remain a Raider...', 'I want to end my career there...', 'I want to stay in Oakland...'
1. Prove it!!!! Sign a deal!!!
2. Tell your agents your intentions, command a deal, or tell them you are going to fire their asses!!!
3. Like the great Rich Gannon, Tim Brown, Lincoln Kennedy, Jerry Rice among others like Romo etc... help your team out, restructure your deal, sign long term, and help aid this team get better in several aspects to get the 'championship' you speak of in 'Oakland'!!!
Its not that hard, youve had them hostage...
The organization has payed you how much over the last 2 seasons.....?
Yes, more than what Gannon etc... have collected over a 2 year span in recent memory...
Do what's best for the team you say you want to play for!!!!
Talk is cheap when big $$$ are in play. The guys that want to stay with a team show by working with the team including even sometimes taking below market rate pay. The problem for Cwood though is I think the team has decided they dont want to offer him a long term deal anymore
just for the 25th, phuck that. That trade would suck azz, it would work if we traded cwood to them for their 9th pick, as simple as that.
yeah **** THAT ****! no way do i wanna see woodson go for a #25. He was what, a #4 when he was drafted. He has gotten better if anything. His stock has risen. Sure he needs a payday but thats it. There are no complaints with him other than that. If he goes, we need a top 10 pick + a player because u just cant replace guys like CWOOD.
Oh I dont know about that.....we get 2 picks back to back and we SUBTRACT 10.5 mil from our books not bad at all I say
u act as if we can get someone good there. NO WE CANT. There isn't a corner in the draft that can hold cwood's jock strap. So in the draft he is not replacable. There IS NOT 1 SINGLE PLAYER IN THIS DRAFT that would be as valuable to our team as CWOOD is.Originally Posted by blitz75
Al would love to lock him up for 6, 7 years....
Have him sign a 'typical' deal us Raider fans have been acustomed too, but obviously Sir Charles isnt seeing things the same way greats like Gannon, Rice, Brown did!
The team has soured on Woodson for what has happen in this on going saga of 2 plus years but, if he would wake up and face the reality of the situation, things could be salvaged!
