Combine Invitees: Offense only
from draftblitz. www.******************
Combine Invitees Here we have a list of players who have been invited to take part in the combine. We have offensive players listed below with defensive players coming soon. Analysis by editor Blitz Allen Trieu Offense QUARTERBACKS Casey Clausen Tennessee Jason Fife Oregon Josh Harris Bowling Green Robert Kent Jackson State Craig Krenzel Ohio State Jared Lorenzen Kentucky JP Losman Tulane Eli Manning Mississippi Luke McCown Louisiana Tech John Navarre Michigan Cody Pickett Washington Philip Rivers North Carolina State Ell Roberson Kansas State Rod Rutherford Pittsburgh Matt Schaub Virginia Jeff Smoker Michigan State Brian Symons Texas Tech Bradlee Van Pelt Colorado State ANALYSIS: Some interesting names. Certainly the athletic QBs, Robert Kent and Josh Harris have a lot to prove and a lot to gain. Interesting that Jason Fife, not even a starter is invited while someone like Ryan Dinwiddie is not. I also think Bradlee Van Pelt was a curious selection but he might surprise some people. FULLBACKS Troy Fleming Tennessee Mike Karney Arizona State Sean McHugh Penn State Lousaka Polite Pittsburgh Thomas Tapeh Minnesota Alex Wade Duke Travis Wilson Kansas State ANALYSIS: Not a lot of surprises here. Out of this group, expect Tapeh, a former tailback to post some pretty good numbers. RUNNING BACKS Rich Alexis Washington Tatum Bell Oklahoma State Ran Carthon Florida Cedric Cobbs Arkansas Adimchinobe Echemandu California Clarence Farmer Arizona Julius Jones Notre Dame Greg Jones Florida State Derrick Knight Boston College Mewelde Moore Tulane Jarrett Payton Miami-Fl Chris Perry Michigan Fred Russell Iowa Michael Turner Northern Illinois Shaud Williams Alabama Quincy Wilson West Virginia Renaldo Works Oklahoma Jason Wright Northwestern ANALYSIS: Let's see how this group does, there are a lot of players who could move up with good 40 times. Namely Greg Jones, Julius Jones and Chris Perry. Perry ran a 4.55 two years ago and reportedly lowered it to 4.37 this past spring...we'll see about that. Expect Jason Wright and Mewelde Moore to do well as they are great pass receivers. Renaldo Works of Oklahoma is an interesting name, but surprising that he and Shaud Williams got the nod and not Brandon Miree. TIGHT ENDS Courtney Anderson San Jose State Bobby Blizzard North Carolina Chris Cooley Utah State Jeff Dugan Maryland Tim Euhus Oregon State John Foschi Georgia Tech Ronnie Ghent Louisville Ben Hartsock Ohio State Brett Pierce Stanford Sean Ryan Boston College Ben Troupe Florida Ben Utecht Minnesota Ben Watson Georgia Kris Wilson Pittsburgh ANALYSIS: It will be interesting to see if Ben Watson can live up to his athletic billing. I also think Courtney Anderson of SJSU is a prospect to watch. Ben Troupe also has a lot to gain and could push himself into the 1st Round with a strong showing here. WIDE RECEIVERS Derek Abney Kentucky Bernard Berrian Fresno State Maurice Brown Iowa Drew Carter Ohio State Keary Colbert USC Chris Collins Mississippi Terrance Cooper East Carolina Jerricho Cotchery North Carolina State Josh Davis Marshall Lee Evans Wisconsin Carlos Francis Texas Tech DJ Hackett Colorado Devery Henderson LSU Michael Jenkins Ohio State Justin Jenkins Mississippi State B.J. Johnson Texas Tony Johnson Penn State Kelvin Kight Florida Triandos Luke Alabama Maurice Mann Nevada Derek McCoy Colorado Jeris McIntyre Auburn Clarence Moore Northern Arizona Johnnie Morant Syracuse James Newson Oregon State Samie Parker Oregon Carlos Perez Florida Jonathan Smith Georgia Tech Kendrick Starling San Jose State Jamaar Taylor Texas A&M Sloan Thomas Texas Andrae Thurman Southern Oregon Darius Watts Marshall Huey Whittaker South Florida Ernest Wilford Virginia Tech Roy Williams Texas George Wilson Arkansas Rashaun Woods Oklahoma State Kevin Youngblood Clemson ANALYSIS: One of my sleeper prospects, and a guy I was just going to start hyping is Clarence Moore and the league beat be to it. A 6'5, 200-lb athlete, Moore has been attracting the attention of the scouts for quite some time now. Andrae Thurman gets the nod as well, he performed well at the Blue-Gray game. Some players that could get themselves on the radar: Carlos Perez and George Wilson, two solid SEC performers who don't get the talk when it comes to the draft. It will also be interesting to see if Drew Carter can come back from injury and post the sub-4.4 times he's been noted for running. OFFENSIVE TACKLES Stacy Andrews Mississippi Calvin Armstrong Washington State Jacob Bell Miami-Oh Sean Bubin Illinois Vernon Carey Miami-Fl Marko Cavka Sacramento State Kirk Chambers Stanford Robert Gallery Iowa Antonio Hall Kentucky Adrian Jones Kansas Carlos Joseph Miami-Fl Brad Lekkerkerker Cal-Davis Dylan McFarland Montana Jim Molinaro Notre Dame Shane Olivea Ohio State Tony Pape Michigan Josh Parrish Washington State Brian Rimpf East Carolina Jacob Rogers USC Jake Scott Idaho Max Starks Florida Drew Strojny Duke Travelle Wharton South Carolina Mark Wilson California ANALYSIS: Stacy Andrews barely saw the field this season but he looked good when he was out there. He's an outstanding athlete and he might post some huge numbers in Indianapolis. One player I was disappointed to see left off was Nate McPeek of Marshall who had a great week at the Blue-Gray game. GUARDS Quinn Christensen BYU Tyson Clabo Wake Forest Adrien Clarke Ohio State Regis Crawford Arizona State Trey Darilek UTEP Anthony Herrera Tennessee Sean Locklear North Carolina State Stephen Peterman LSU Alan Reuber Texas A&M Kurt Sigler Eastern Washington Shannon Snell Florida Jeb Terry North Carolina ANALYSIS: Out of the guards, no one stands out as an early pick but with good showings, Snell, Clarke and Peterman could move up into the 2nd Round. Darilek is a sleeper prospect who has generated some buzz of late. CENTERS Toby Cecil Texas Tech Jake Grove Virginia Tech Rex Hadnot Houston Nick Hardwick Purdue Scott Jackson BYU Nick Leckey Kansas State Josh Sewell Nebraska Alex Stepanovich Ohio State Scott Wells Tennessee ANALYSIS: Leckey and a few others will work out with other parts of the line as well but this is a chance for guys like Leckey, Grove and Wells to show teams it is worth taking a center early this year.
