1st Mock Draft;Dec. 31st, 2003

Mock Draft: First of many to come
December 31, 2003
By: Victor Cotto, Raiderfans.net Staff Columnist

My first installment of many mock drafts that will be posted before April of 2004.

1. Arizona (via trade w/ S.D)- Eli Manning, QB Mississippi : They want to rebuild around the third installment of a Manning QB.

2. Oakland- Ben Roethlisberger, QB Mia.-Oh.: Both top QB's gone after 2 picks.

3. San Diego- Robert Gallery, T Iowa: Giants would love to land him, can't jump over to get the best lineman in the draft.

4. New York G.- Shawn Andrews, T Arkansas: G-men get a lineman to fix their current weak point. Could also go LB here.

5. Washington- Roy Williams, WR Texas: Washington pairs up L.Coles with the best WR in the draft.

6. Detroit- Steven Jackson, RB Ore. St.: Speed and Power to the Lions weak rushing attack.

7. Atlanta- Sean Taylor, S Miami: If Lovie Smith is the coach, he will want a ball-hawk in the secondary. Could go WR also at this spot.

8. Cleveland- Ben Troupe, TE Florida: At 6'4, 260 pounds, Browns get a dynamic weapon at tight end.

9. Jacksonville- Larry Fitzgerald, WR Pitt.: The heisman finalist lands with the Jags. Leftwich to Fitzgerald sounds great!

10. Houston- Tommie Harris, DT Okla.: Capers gets his man. With Carr, A.Johnson and Davis, Texans focus on defense.

11. Pittsburgh- Kevin Jones, RB Va.Tech: Steelers get future RB with Bettis slowing down.

12. New York J.- Jonathan Vilma, LB Miami: Herm Edwards finds a speedy LB who will strive in his system.

13. Buffalo- Reggie Williams, WR Wash.: Bills lowly offense gets a boost.

14. Chicago- Vince Wilfork, DT Miami: Run stuffer for the Monsters of the Midway.

15. Tampa Bay- D.J. Williams, LB Miami: Buccaneers can go for a defensive lineman also. Will Smith possibly here also.

16. San Francisco- Lee Evans, WR Wisconsin: Might lose Owens, defensive line might be an option here as well.

17. Cincinnati- Karlos Dansby, LB Auburn: Lewis continues to build this team back into respectability.

18. New Orleans- DeAngelo Hall, CB Va.Tech: Saints need to improve poorest secondary. Explosive and a play maker easily dexribes Hall.

19. Minnesota- Will Poole, CB USC: Vikings would be in the playoffs if not for poor corner play.

20. Miami- Rashaun Woods, WR Okl.St.: Dolphins need help for Chambers.

21. New England- Chris Perry, RB Mich.: Patriots look for a tough runner to complement Brady.

22. Dallas- Darnell Dockett, DT Florida State: If Parcells lands Corey Dillon, he'll go defense all the way.

23. Seattle- Will Smith, DE Ohio St.: Seahawks pick up the surprise slid of the draft.

24. Green Bay- Marcus Tubbs, DT Texas: Gilbert Brown isnt getting any younger!

25. Denver- Chris Gamble, CB Ohio St: Broncos need help on that secondary.

26. Carolina- Kellen Winslow Jr., TE Miami- Panthers add some punch to their weak offense.

27. St.Louis- Derrick Johnson, LB Texas: Rams like fast players on turf.

28. Tennessee- Vernon Carey, OL Miami: More protection for McNair and a great athletic run blocker.

29. Indiniapolis- Dunta Robinson CB S. Car.: Dungy likes skilled corners with great ball skills.

30. Kansas City- Stuart Schweigert, S Purdue: Defensive lineman also a possibility.

31. Philadelphia- Ricardo Colclough, CB Tusculum: Eagles might lose one of their starting corners.

32. New England- Marlin Jackson, CB Mich.: Great value at the nd of the first round.

Good job RINY Schweigert is a stud, you can do anything you want with him, blitz, stop the run, or go into coverage, and he does it all well

I think he may sneak into the 1st round. If not, he will be snatched up in the 2nd.

You mentioned Davis possibly taking Winslow instead of Troupe?

Well, he passed on Portis for W.Green and, I think he will realize that this guy is the best TE in the draft, bar none!

Yea I heard that, but Davis really liked Winslow, and I think Winslow is better than Troupe but thats for another discussion.

Lee Evans from Wisconsin or Rashaun Woods from OK st. are my picks.

Evans is a playmaker but he had that knee injury.

Woods wont have the best combine, hes strong, but he is not overly fast and his draft stock will (unfairly) fall. And theres always the WR crop that are supposed to fall in the second round, theres a lot of depth this year at WR.

Dude, every week could be overdoing it. Think about it! How much change can we see the first couple of months?! After the combine and workouts, that when mocks can be updated more frequently! I ju8st think is kinda early for frequent mocks, unless guys declare and/or decide to stay or rulings come down!

More importantly, articles, profiles etc...of players we know are eligible for the draft on April!
