Official 2004 Draft Prospect Thread: 1st Round
By RaiderInNY & Liebo84 Possible 1st round prospects for the 2004 NFL Draft in New York April of 2004: * Denotes Underclassman Antawn Odom* DE Alabama Junior who declared for the draft early, one of the best pass rushers in the draft. Ben Roethlisberger* QB Miami(OH) Big kid, big Arm, mobile and very intruguing. Ben Troupe TE Florida (6-4?, 260), possibly better than Winslow, great athletic ability. Ben Utecht TE Minnesota Bob Sanders S Iowa Cadillac Williams RB Auburn Ok speed but has great vision and plenty of big play potential. Carlos Joseph OT Miami Brother of William, great player with bad work ethic Chad Lavailais DE LSU Anchored second best defense in the nation Chris Gamble* WR Ohio State Mr. Evrything for the buckeyes, could make it in the 1st round with a solid combine and his great athletism. Chris Perry RB Michigan Great short yardage runner, shows the ability to pop the big one, powerful and reliable. Cody Pickett QB Washington Ok year but has intangibles to succeed in ther NFL. D.J. Williams OLB Miami Another great Miami LB in the 1st round. Darnell Dockett DT Florida State[/b] DeAngelo Hall CB Virginia Tech A great player, but he reminds me way too much of PBuch. Undersized and brash. Derrick Strait CB Oklahoma Great cover corner who can stop the run as well. Dunta Robinson CB South Carolina Dwan Edwards DT Oregon State Raw but can wreak havoc in opposing backfields. Greg Jones RB Florida State Could be best back in the draft. Can run up the middle and outside well. J.P. Losman QB Tulane Possible mid to late 1st rounder. Jacob Rogers OT USC Had a strong senior year; late first rounder Jake Grove C Virginia Tech Jonathan Vilma LB Miami All over the field all the time, ball hawk. Justin Babin DE Western Michigan Causes trouble in the backfield, athletic Karlos Dansby OLB Auburn Keith Smith CB McNeese State Kellen Winslow* TE Miami Lock top 15 pick. Great size, speed and big play ability. Possible 2 TE's in top 15-20. Kenechi Udeze DE USC Great pass rusher with plenty of speed Kevin Jones RB Virginia Tech One dimensional but fast outside runner with incredible vision upfield. Explosive speed, probably the only RB in the top 20. Kris Wilson TE Pittsburgh Rod Rutherford's other big target Larry Fitzgerald WR Pittsburgh Probably best player in country. Randy Moss type skills, question is, will he be eligible? Lee Evans WR Wisconsin Marcus Tubbs DT Texas Matt Ball DE UCLA Dave Ball DE UCLA Maurice Clarret* RB Ohio State Let the controversy begin! Michael Clayton WR LSU Mike Williams* WR USC Philip Rivers QB North Carolina State Possible project, has skills to develop in the next level. Randy Starks DT Maryland Some consider to be better than both Wilfork and Harris Rashaun Woods WR Oklahoma State The most underrated of the WR's. Could possibly be a big target in the next level. Reggie Williams WR Washington Lock #1 pick, another WR in the rich draft of them. Ricardo Colclough CB Tusculum Robert Gallery OT Iowa 6-7, 318-pound 'nuff said. Top 5 lock. Rodney Leslie DT UCLA Roy Williams WR Texas Highly skilled, has all the potential of a great receiver. Sean Taylor* S Miami Best Saftey in America! Shawn Andrews* OT Arkansas Top 10 talent? Steven Jackson RB Oregon State Best RB in college? Stuart Schweigert S Purdue Tommie Harris* DT Oklahoma Another D-line stud in the draft. Tony Pape OT Michigan Veron Carey OT/OG Miami Overpowering blocker could move to tackle in the NFL. Vince Wilfork* DT Miami Will Allen S Ohio State Big plays, solid collegiate athlete. Will Poole CB USC Ball hawk skills, solid coverage skills with great upside. Will Smith DE Ohio State Great outside pass rusher. Michael Boulware LB Florida State- Athletic player who can cover and stuff the run. Brother of the Ravens's Peter. Dontarrious Thomas LB Auburn- Stock is on the decline but can garner first round consideration with a good Combine. Nat Dorsey OT Georgia Tech- Sloppy footwork but is athletic NOTE: All players mentioned are potential 1st rounder selections. Some players are underclassmen and have yet to be declared eligible. I really do hope the Raiders pursue a quarterback like Eli Manning. I don't think Tuiasopo is your man even he didn't get a chance to proove he could play. If not Kenechi Udeze DE out of USC could be a very good choice.

Yes I too like Udeze. I seen him play for USC and he is legit if the Raiders are looking to add some pass rush to their front line.

I am willing to bet that he falls either to 5 out of the top 7. 1. Manning 2. Fitgerald 3. Roethlisberger 4. Gallery 5. either Winslow or Udeze 6. Taylor 7. Andrews 8. Udeze, Wilfork or Roy Williams. There is no way the Raiders waste the 2nd pick on this kid. I would be shocked...and besides Norm Turner is an offensive guy, He is not picking Defense 1st unless it is Taylor |
