supplemental draft
sorry if this has been asked before, but how the hell does the supplemental draft work. is it by order (as in san diego first and then us, etc) or lottery (ping pong balls)??

From reading other posts, I think it's something like this:
The bottom twelve teams each have a number of balls (or whatever they use) corresponding to how they drafted (ie San Diego=32 balls, Oakland=31 balls). They then determine the order by drawing like a lottery for the bottom twelve only. Then they do the same thing with a group that consists of teams not already in the order that didn't make the playoffs. Then, after determining the first 20 in the sup draft, they do the same thing with the playoff teams. The only thing I may be mistaken on is that it may only be the bottom 10 in the first draw.

I am quite sure that the supplemental draft is the same order as the regular draft. Although it used to be different, number of balls, whatever, the last few years they changed it to the draft order.
I did post a thread giving a brief breakdown last week. Also, I have heard, from several different sources that it is now the same as the draft.
I am not 100% sure on this, but I am 100% sure this is what I heard. Otherwise the guys from ESPN and SI have got it wrong.

This should finally clear it up. Although this is a few years ago, when the Bengals had #1.
