San Diego sent out a news release this past week announcing it had been contacted by the Giants about a possible deal for the No. 1 pick. You have to give the Chargers credit for that one. By putting the word out that at least one team is interested in moving up to draft quarterback Eli Manning, it may light a fire under other teams who are looking to get Peyton's younger brother, or perhaps jump in front of the Oakland Raiders, who may be considering Iowa tackle
Robert Gallery.
The Washington Post reported Saturday that the Redskins have talked to the Raiders about possibly swapping their No. 5 pick for Oakland's No. 2, with the idea of taking Gallery. Part of that deal could include tackle Chris Samuels. The Redskins, naturally, denied the rumor.
