I know its been said before..and argued before...but with this unusually deep draft, it's time to trade down. It is clear that a starting (even an impact) WR can be had in the later part of the first round so it makes little sense to go after a WR with the #2. The drafting of a potential franchise QB is interesting, but the new trend in the NFL has found great success in "game managers" from later rounds who can get the job done. It is becoming apparent that dominant QB's aren't enough and can cause salary cap issues which limit the ability of the TEAM to win. Look at the last few Super Bowls and that trend is obvious. The delima in Indianapolis is EXACTLY the problem with a franchise QB. Indy can't build around Manning as they would like because of the $$ issues. The new NFL might even be described as this...NO ONE IS WORTH HUGE MONEY. This is the ultimate team sport and the successfull teams seem to be now built around quality (not great) role players with compedative, team oriented attitudes. With this said, I throw down the gauntlet...let's trade down to get several quality players who can be kept around (and built around) for the future of the team as a whole.
How about this for a scenario: Trade the #2 for a high 1st and 2nd (at minimum) Dangle CWood for a #1 this year Draft the best possible players available, regardless of possition (the old Raider philosophy...and we need almost everything!) with an emphasis on WR, DL early (just my dumb opinion). Use the CWood salary relief to get FA's as dictated by draft results. Please keep in mind that I have no clue what I'm talking about.

The Giants may be the mostl likely trading partner because they're desperate for O-line help and really want Gallery. I'd be more than happy to see the Raiders drop two spots and pick up the Giants second-round pick for the effort. I wouldn't trade our #2 to the Bills because dropping all the way down to #13 is too far. Same with the Steelers unless they throw in a player along with their second-round pick. Bears are very happy with Grossman.

I agree in trading and this is one way of doing it.
I know the Woodson's fans with be in uproar here All this is a mock nothing more nothinkg less. Raiders draft Trade C.Woodson to Detroit for #6 and their second #36 and a fourth #104 Trade #2 and det #36 to Houston for their #10, #40 and the rights to Drew Henson #6 Roy Williams WR Texas #11 DeAngelo Hall CB Virginia Tech #40 Issac Sagpoga DT Hawaii #45 Marquis Hill DE/LB LSU #67 Max Starks OT Florida #98 Matt Ware FS UCLA #104 Nick Leckey CR Kansas State #129 Carlos Francis WR Texas Tech #160 Alex Wade FB Duke #195 Jarrett Payton RB Miami (Fl) # 213 Jonathan Harrell LB Northern Iowa Roy Williams is a player that AL will not pass up on He has Speed and can catch Hall has the qualities to be a shutdown corner Sagpoga is a typical Raider pick Hill can be a big time Pass rusher he can play LB Starks a solid lineman pickup Ware could under the tutorledge of Rod Woodson become solid FS The rest are training camp fodder and NFL Europe beckons

Hill can play LB? You've got the wrong guy, bro. He's a 6'6" 300 pound DE. He could play some DT, though. He'd actually make a good one, I suspect. If we didn't already have Brayton, I'd be all for bringing him in to play Base End. He's got some skill.

basically, Al can't mess up this draft in any way...if we keep the #2 pick, that means we are getting a player like Eli, Gallery, or Fitz.
if he trades, we will probably still be in the top 10, and pick up another 2nd round pick (and maybe more). This is the deepest draft I have seen as long as I have followed it...and we are in prime position to take advantage of it
