Clarrett is definitley leaving

INDIANAPOLIS -- Maurice Clarett will hire an agent this week, ending any possibility that the running back would return to college next season.


Clarett, who has been counseling with a fairly prominent agent over the past week, has not yet signed the pertinent documentation to hire him, and so technically has not yet forfeited his remaining college eligibility, ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reported Tuesday.


In Atlanta on Monday evening, as part of his preparation for the NFL combine sessions, Clarett told Pasquarelli he likely will sign the NFL's standard representation agreement to formally hire the agent this week at the Indianapolis workouts.


Clarett's attorney, Alan Milstein, said Monday that the former Ohio State star was working with an agent in preparation for the combine. Milstein would not identify the agent.


"He does have one," Milstein said.


The NFL Players Association, which accredits agents and oversees representation matters, does not yet have a standard representation agreement on file for Clarett.


On Feb. 5, U.S. District Judge Shira A. Scheindlin ruled that an NFL rule barring eligibility to Clarett and other underclassmen from April's draft violates antitrust law.


Last week, Scheindlin refused to suspend her ruling, and Milstein said Clarett would be in the draft.


Clarett ran for 1,237 yards and led Ohio State to a national championship as a freshman in the 2002 season. But the school suspended him before last season for accepting money from a family friend and for lying about it to NCAA and university investigators.

Doesnt matter what defense is being played...he's getting his chest knocked out!
