The latest two round mock, by draftnotebook.com

Round 1
by draftnotebook.com

1.
Cincinnati Bengals Carson Palmer
QB 6'5" 235# 4.8 Southern California
COMMENTS: When the smoke finally clears, the selection will eventually be this year's Heisman Trophy winner.
2.
Detroit Lions Charles Rogers
WR 6'4" 205# 4.4 Michigan State
COMMENTS: The best overall football player/prospect in this draft.
3.
Houston Texans Jordan Gross
OT 6'4" 305# 5.2 Utah
COMMENTS: With the Texans looking at offensive linemen, look for a trade down. Look for a series of trades in the first round.
4.
Chicago Bears Jimmy Kennedy
DT 6'4" 330# 5.2 Penn State
COMMENTS: Kordell Stewart could be the new starting quarterback in the Windy City allowing the Bears to fill a position of need on defense.
5.
Dallas Cowboys Terrell Suggs
DE 6'3" 250# 4.5 Arizona State
COMMENTS: The Cowboys finished 31st in sacks last season and Suggs is clearly the best pass rusher in this draft.
6.
Arizona Cardinals Byron Leftwich
QB 6'6" 250# 4.9 Marshall
COMMENTS: Plummer is on his way out after six inconsistent seasons. We still consider Leftwich the best quarterback in this draft, not Palmer.
7.
Minnesota Vikings Terence Newman
CB 5'10" 180# 4.4 Kansas State
COMMENTS: The word from Minnesota is defensive tackle (Kennedy, Robertson, or Long), but the greater need is at cornerback. Newman is a hot prospect right now and the question is will he last until #7.
8.
Jacksonville Jaguars Andre Johnson
WR 6'3" 210# 4.4 Miami
COMMENTS: Jimmy Smith and Mark Brunell need help.
9.
Carolina Panthers Kyle Boller
QB 6'3" 220# 4.8 California
COMMENTS: Probably the most significant riser this season ... something that is a concern in itself.
10.
Baltimore Ravens Kwame Harris
OT 6'7" 310# 5.2 Stanford
COMMENTS: The Ravens struggled at right tackle last season and Harris should step right in as a starter.
11.
Seattle Seahawks Jerome McDougle
DE 6'3" 270# 4.7 Miami
COMMENTS: The team must improve a weak pass rush.
12.
Saint Louis Rams Eric Steinbach
OG/OT 6'6" 285# 5.0 Iowa
COMMENTS: Steinbach is the best lineman in this draft.
13.
Washington Redskins Dewayne Robertson
DT 6'3" 310# 5.1 Kentucky
COMMENTS: Wilkinson and Gardner could both be gone in free agency.
14.
New England Patriots Marcus Trufant
CB 5'11" 185# 4.4 Washington State
COMMENTS: This draft choice was acquired from the Buffalo Bills for QB Drew Bledsoe. A steal at this point.
15.
San Diego Chargers
Kelley Washington
WR 6'3" 225# 4.5 Tennessee
COMMENTS: If healthy!?!
16.
Kansas City Chiefs Boss Bailey
OLB 6'3" 230# 4.6 Georgia
COMMENTS: The team must add speed and athleticism to back seven.
17.
New Orleans Saints E. J. Henderson
ILB 6'1" 250# 4.8 Maryland
COMMENTS: Clemons was a disappointment last season and will be replaced.
18.
New Orleans Saints Dennis Weathersby
CB 6'0" 210# 4.6 Oregon State
COMMENTS: This draft choice was acquired from the Miami Dolphins in the HB-Ricky Williams trade. After running 4.4's at the combine, look for Weathersby to rise 10-15 slots.
19.
New England Patriots Johnathan Sullivan
DT 6'4" 305# 5.3 Georgia
COMMENTS: After cutting Steve Martin late last season, a tackle is needed to play inside next to Seymour.
20.
Denver Broncos Jason Witten
TE 6'4" 260# 4.7 Tennessee
COMMENTS: Sharpe is nearing the end.
21.
Cleveland Browns William Joseph
DT 6'4" 290# 4.8 Miami
COMMENTS: Once considered the #1 overall prospect, Joseph would be a bargain at #21.
22.
New York Jets Kevin Williams
DT 6'4" 290# 4.8 Oklahoma State
COMMENTS: The best prospect available at the need positions (defensive tackle and safety).
23.
Atlanta Falcons Taylor Jacobs
WR 6'1" 195# 4.4 Florida
COMMENTS: Will help take some of the pressure off Vick.
24.
Indianapolis Colts Andre Woolfolk
CB 6'1" 190# 4.5 Oklahoma
COMMENTS: Based on potential, not production.
25.
New York Giants Kenny Peterson
DT 6'3" 285# 4.8 Ohio State
COMMENTS: Greatly improved stock as a senior.
26.
San Francisco 49'ers George Foster
OT 6'6" 320# 5.2 Georgia
COMMENTS: With Deese to be released June 1, a top tackle will be added early in this draft.
27.
Pittsburgh Steelers Rashean Mathis
CB/S 6'1" 185# 4.4 Bethune-Cookman
COMMENTS: Top small college prospect ... 14 interceptions as a senior.
28.
Tennessee Titans Larry Johnson
HB 6'2" 220# 4.6 Penn State
COMMENTS: Look for skill position selections on day one of the draft. Tough choice between Johnson and Lloyd.
29.
Green Bay Packers Rex Grossman
QB 6'1" 220# 4.8 Florida
COMMENTS: Favre could be entering his final season.
30.
Philadelphia Eagles Terry Pierce
ILB 6'3" 250# 4.7 Kansas State
COMMENTS: The Eagles want to add speed at linebacker and Pierce could play inside or out.
31.
Oakland Raiders Justin Fargas
HB 6'1" 205# 4.4 Southern California
COMMENTS: After impressive combine, could be the first back selected on draft day.
32.
Oakland Raiders Jeff Faine
C 6'3" 300# 5.1 Notre Dame
COMMENTS: This draft choice was acquired from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for Head Coach Jon Gruden. Robbins days in Oakland appear finished.

I don't know about Fargas....sure he's fast and so is Garner. But he only came on late in the season, and he has durability problems....as for Faine, that is the whole wildcard with the Raiders because of what to do with Robbins. I'd rather see a safety, DT, or DE with one of those picks. Someone who can step in right away....

Second Round.....

33.
Cincinnati Bengals Chris Kelsay
DE 6'4" 270# 4.9 Nebraska
COMMENTS:

COMMENTS:
35.

Now this pick with Victor Hobson I can see. We won't get much of an impact player this late in the second, so possibly he can be groomed to be Romo's replacement. I just don't see Travian Smith starting. He has had 5 years now, and don't you think if he was good enough they wouldn't have signed Romo last year?

Well all I can say is if we go offense with our first two picks then we are going to have to find someone who can play DL in free agency. Personally I cant see us not taking a defensive player with at least one of those picks, if not both. Of course it all depends on whos left and whether or not we move up. I really dont see Fargas as an option though.

I like Faine with one of the picks, but I agree with Joey; we need at least one defensive player. With Al though, who knows, he's the guy who did take a kicker in the 1st round.

I like taking a RB high but I'd rather see a power guy than a speed guy, and Fargas smacks of "workout warrior" after burning up the combine.

I guess Faine depends on the Robbins situation, but I'd rather see Treu start and take a young inside lineman later on and save the high picks for the D-line.

what about with the two first round picks going to the defense. and then taking a chance with mcgahee in the second? also is it me or why is it that we have been drafting defense in the first round the last few years? if we didn't draft sea-bass in the first in 2000, it would have been Keith Bullock (a linebacker) who went to Tennessee. Could it be that Bresnahan needs to go?!?!?!?! This is his put up or shut up year.....

It seems clear now that we won't be forced to fill alot of needs with the draft. So we could end up drafting for the future which would mean offensive players maybe more of an option.

Being an SC fan I like Fargus I'm also like Faine to anchore our O line for years to come. But much will depend on who we sign. S, DT, DE, for next year are still pretty high. It sound as if we may sign Harrison or Kight at S.

We will get a Defensive player, I can guarantee that, we dont go offense that much in the 1st, plus look at the defensive players we have got in the draft(Woodson, Gibson, Harris and Buchanon)

Draft so deep at de we may try one round 3 there, think we go for high profile corner that can man press to leverage CWood and Tory for less cash at croner and go 4 deep there to keep Buch Baby fresh for special teams help and as depth in case CWood or Tory injuries occur again, it would also allow Woodson to slide to safety and learn that move from Papa Woodson. The pick i see us getting ir Oreg. State guy he has size and speed there and can also play safety should be available if we trade up a first in 20-25 range. The other pick for gruden we go for Offense help, maybe trading down to get Faine or the Middle Tenn. State wr who had 4.3 speed was tall and weighs 220 in the Porter mold to assume our wr spot in future. That leaves us round 2 pick for Faine should we trade one round 1 down we move our pick there up to secure him or any of Iowa interiot Ol who have tackle sizer but good movment similar to Walker from last draft, the Iowa guys were all te in high school background as well and could be our goalline Jumbo set guys while Walker goes to left tackle and Sims slides guard. Faine same mold as man who can play any O line spot with movement ability and size/power combo and will be in round 2 since teams almost never draft centers round one. The wr has porter size and status speed wise, we can break him in slow along lines of the Porter project while he learns from legends, and has makings of vertical great as we prepare for new era of Raiders old school powerrun-vertical game as TUIS steps in, and meantime his size and power allow him to be short game dominator with Gannon's sets on O. The USC halfback moved up a lot with his combine he will go in round one before we get near him, McGahee wore our colorsto combine and will go late to us or other team by round 4. Fnally for the other teams involved, Denver more likely to get the 6'6"Stanford wr for Sharpe's spot , same size and transition to make, and Dungy's drafts are based on performance not on potential look it up numbers played heavy into what he drafted at Tampa see the results, think he takes chance on the div. II corner with all the INT and he does go Safety for free spot since his SS #42 is set and they released Robinson their other vet. Think Parcells goes d as well his line is deep and their secondary is young, he goes after lb to leverage down his vets and get impact blitzers who can mature as a unit to superbowl material, Dallas wants vets on O for Carthon's squad Glenn was proof of that and terrific PR move to show that he isnt being hearltess about Emmit he is making solid football cap moves. Use the Gruden pick to get player ahead in round 2 and player who slides in one because of draft history, Fains and Midd. Tenn. Wr in that round both picks top 15 .

Tory is released and Buchanon won't be riding pine. He's our starting CB opposite C. Woodson. And he'll still be returning punts. There is no way in hell we move a Pro Bowl CB, in his prime, to safety. That's pure nonsense. Depending on who we sign in Free Agency, will determine who we draft. If we sign Douglas and Harrison, then we can draft a DT and maybe a RB or WR. If we don't sign a good DE through Free Agency then we draft one with one of our 2 1st round picks. Faine is still an outside possibility since we still don't know what's up with BR.
