McGahee
The more I read about how far ahead of schedule Willis McGahee is the more inclined I am to see Davis take a flyer on him at #32, especially if Kenny Peterson or Corey Redding are there at #31. The Raiders wouldn't need McGahee to contribute in the least for 2003, could re-sign Randy Jordan and add another veteran back for 1 yr. to complement Garner.
It seems as though all 32 teams have looked at McGahee in the NFL Combine and nobody is saying he doensn't stand a good chance to recover fully. Is McGahee worth the #32 pick? I have been reading alot about this guy and would like to know what you guys think! Could he be the next Bo Jackson for us. Is there a shot for us to get Michael Haynes.

on injuries or not. But the Raiders have had more than there share in the past two seasons. Why even be interested in a player, albeit the next Bo Jackson, if he's already injured?

I'm kinda torn on this one. Obviously, without the injury we would have no chance of getting him without moving up. But, if we gamble and it pays off, we could be getting a super value steal with this selection.
It's not like if you follow the status quo and pick the obvious choice, it's guaranteed to work out, anyway.
I mean, I thought the safety problem was solved 2 years ago with when picked D. Gibson - and he really hasn't proved to be much of a player to this point, at least. He's OK, but he doesn't play like a first-rounder.
But the injury is quite a concern. Tough, tough choice.

His leg would have to be really coming along ahead of schedule. What doctor is going to put their reputation on the line to say, "Yeah he will be ready to go in 6 months. Spend a first round pick." If you miss that prognosis you might loose your season tickets. you know what i'm saying?

But will we have to move up to get him? I don't see him around & about when our turn comes. I'm more interested in this years draft then i have ever been. I guess its cause i'm on this board now, and surrounded by soooo much draft INTELLIGENCE!

A third-round pick I'd spend without hesitation.
A second-round pick, well, I'd leave that to the experts.
A first-round pick strikes me as folly. There are good, healthy backs who will be on the board in the first round. And I think the Raiders may well need a good, healthy back this year.
The kid seems worth waiting for, but likely to miss the year. A nice "future" pick is seldom a first-round thing. But if anyone's going to gamble on a risk, it's the Raiders: think Bo in the 7th, Ismail in the 4th, Eli Herring (an OT who wouldn't play Sundays for religious reasons; and didn't) in the 7th, etc.

Forgot all about that guy. I do remember that, though. That was a wacky pick.
But, back to the topic,
It would certainly be an off-the-wall pick, but hey we did take a kicker in the first round before.

Every thing I read, see, or hear with this kid makes me feel good about him.
I think he'll ('d) be a great acquision - definitely Al's kinda guy - and just what I think we need in a back.
Perfect point about there not being an extremely pressing need for him to a big producer right away either.
Hmmmm....
