note to porter:
SHUT THE **** UP UNTIL YOUR READY TO COME BACK
ON THE FIELD.
Jerry Porter is ALL mouth and 100% Bull ****. When will he play again. Next ****ing year! I'd loose his ass to TB in a ny minute. Injuries? The Oakland Raiders have been riddled w/ injuries for the past 3 seasons, ah like when Jon never would play him remember? He's played for what? ONE SEASON? What is with this one player SAVIOR SCENARIO yousguys got going here? Now the KC D in weak if we can get a running game going.......

Bleed, i don't subscribe to the Porter SAVIOR SCENARIO, but I think he means a lot to the passing game. Here's my outlook on it:Originally posted by Bleed

Gannon has not gotten into a rhythm with any of the other No. 3 WRs. They've made a few catches, I think it was Whitted who had a good one in the SD game. But they've dropped the ball, too. I forget which one it was that dropped a strike in the chest against CHI that would have sealed the game sometime in the 3rd quarter. Gannon felt comfortable throwing the ball up to Porter and letting him make a play.
Regardless, it isn't clicking with what we got. Now, to complicate the matter the O-line is banged up and was generally not overly effective even before the injuries mounted.
So, we can't protect that well when we're in 3-WR sets. And if we go max protect with TEs and RBs blocking/chipping, we can't beat the coverage with Brown and Rice. Porter adds a tremendous difference to either offensive approach. The truth is, in my opinion, Rice is a No. 2 at this point and Timmy is a borderline No. 3 guy. It's kinda a damed if you do, damned if you don't situation.
Getting Porter back isn't going to fix all that's wrong with the team, but I believe it would help the offense quite a bit.
Looking back, had it been either Brown or Rice who was out since Game 1 instead of Porter, I don't think we would miss them as much as we're missing Porter.
That wouldn't fix all our problems. It wouldn't make Gannon run when he should and it wouldn't make our run defense magically be better than dead-last in the NFL. But it would help.
that's my take
No problem! But with or with out Porter if Gannon continues in his slump and the Raiders don't change things up, NOBODY's GONNA MAKE A DIFERENCE. If we are running the same stuff since 1998? WTF? Thats the problem. Don't fix it till it breaks, well it's broken now.
All you've said is true. I was a don't-fix-it-til-breaks guy. It broke. Fix it, change it, trade it, cut it, sign it ... whatever, I want to see us winning again.Originally posted by Bleed

I also noticed that I think we're the only team in the league that never rolls our QB out, why is that? We get suckered on that on defense every damn time.
