Raiders | Williams' Roster Spot In Jeopardy
Thu, 31 Jul 2003 11:15:23 -0700
According to Gregg Bell, of the Sacramento Bee, Oakland Raiders veteran TE Roland Williams' (knee/toe) roster spot could be in jeopardy. Already expected to be out until the third week of August, more problems have plagued Williams' leg. "I have issues with strength in my quadriceps. I have issues with my patella. I have issues with my meniscus. We're going to work at it," Williams said. With TE Doug Jolley the clear starter, emerging rookie TE Teyo Johnson and a host of others vying for the three or four TE spots on the roster, the time missed will be hard for Williams to make up.

Yup.......hope they got some autographs before they picked up their bus tickets. Too bad about some of the injured guys, but that's the way it goes sometimes. Maybe if they spent some time training in the off season instead of waiting until camp to start training they could hang with the pros. (Can you say Rice, Romanowski, etc.?) Train all year long and camp is just another day.Originally posted by Rhode raidah

We'll see a healthy dose of Jolley and T. Johnson this year. Plus Santiago has been doing well in camp and should make up for the blocking loss of Williams while he's gone.
Agreed Darth ... and if Johnson's blocking is indeed as good as I've heard lately, I'm not at all concerned. Yeah, OJ may be a stud too.
What about Mondriel Fulcher??? Does he have any shot at making this squad?

That guy is a mystery to me. It seems like he's been in camp every year, but never gets time on offense. Is he even worth holding onto now that we have two guys that are better and so young?Originally posted by Towner13

This is blood for blood and by the gallons. These are the old days man, the bad days, the all-or-nothing days. They're back! There's no choices left. And I'm ready for war.
Leave it to the Bronco to not be able to hack it in Raiderland.

Fulcher has a chance if Ro can't play. He beat out Marcus Williams last year in camp, but he's going to have to be a blocker to make it with J&J as the other TEs.
