    Question Porter's compliment: Marcus Robinson...

    from ESPN

    April 16, 2003
    Where will Robinson land?
The Bears finally released veteran wide receiver Marcus Robinson. The 28-year-old Robinson suffered a major knee injury in 2001. A back injury shorted his 2000 season. Still, no one will forget his 1,400-yard year in 1999 when he caught 84 passes. It will be interesting to see if the Arizona Cardinals, who just lost Frank Sanders, and are loaded with inexperienced receivers will try to go for Robinson. Personnel chief Rod Graves was involved with drafting Robinson when he was with the Bears.

Back in '99, i thought ROBINSON was the real deal, but dude cannot stay healthy. A little speed wouldn't hurt either. The CARDINALS, wow, has anyone ever met a CARDINAL fan? Do they exist? Will EMMITT make it through a whole season knowing the entire defense will be waiting for him? Ya, i'd say ROBINSON would be a fit. Put him with JETT and you might be workin it.

    Actually bill ...

I grew up watching the Cards and I have to say that if I had to hace a fav. NFC team, it would be the Cards.
You have to admit that Rob Fredrickson (former Raider) is ****ing cool, as well as Ron McKinnon.
I sincerely think Dave McGinnis will have them competitive, and at least throw the 9ers and Rams some losses in a weak ass division.
Now my son, while being 100% in love and support of the Raiders, will also watch every Cards game he can and always hopes that they and the Raiders get to the SB so he won't have to be upset about either outcome.
He wears an old Plummer jersey, but not as much as his Woodson or Rice.
The really cool thing about the Cards is they always beat teams that they shouldn't (like us in '01) and now they are in the Rams division, which makes it great fun to root for them in the midst of these 'home town' Rams fans that strangely never backed the birds when they were the home team.
    That **** makes me SICK!

But to the point ... I do not believe we need a Robinson type, we need a young dude from the draft with serious speed.
I personally have great confidence in Marcus Knight ... I just hope he gets his chances.

I also think that Knight will be a good WR. Porter and Knight will be a very strong tandem in the future.

I have no love, or hate for the Cardinals. I wouldn't mind giving Robinson a 1-year deal and see what he's got, dude was a monster before the injuries. My preference, however, would be to go with Favor's suggestion and pick up a rookie in the draft.

As for Marcus Knight, he can be a productive 4th, maybe 3rd WR and play special teams, but I don't every see him being a #2 (one that's worth a damn anyways). I like him, I like him a lot, but much like Randy Jordan, he does well at what he does.

This is blood for blood and by the gallons. These are the old days man, the bad days, the all-or-nothing days. They're back! There's no choices left. And I'm ready for war.

I agree, Knight doesn't have that explosive first step that you need to be a big time wr in this league. Don't get me wrong, I love the guy, he's fearless and has great hands but don't see him being much more than a situational player. Tyrone Callico anyone?
