HELL YA, can't wait for the trial
HELL NO, I've got better things to do
Jury ready for Raiders versus city and county
Testimony in the fraud suit is expected to last two months
By Paul T. Rosynsky, STAFF WRITER
SACRAMENTO -- After what one attorney called "the longest job interview of your life," 12 jurors and three alternates were chosen Thursday to decide whether Oakland and Alameda County owe the Raiders $1.1 billion for defrauding them.
Following three days of grueling interviews, attorneys for both the Raiders and the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Inc. agreed to seat 10 women and two men on the panel, and chose two women and one man as alternates.
"We got a good jury; we got a jury that is intelligent and a jury that is fair," said James Brosnahan, an attorney representing the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Inc.
The jurors were selected from a pool of more than 80 men and women who live in Sacramento County. Superior Court Judge Richard Park said the jury pool was so large because the case involves a popular Bay Area football team that might have deep allegiance in the area.
The questioning revealed, however, that more people in the state Capitol may be fans of the San Francisco 49ers.
The 12 jurors selected Thursday will have to sit through at least two months of testimony expected to delve into the intricate details of how and why the Raiders decided to return from Los Angeles to Oakland in 1995.
The Raiders say they were defrauded into returning when promised all seats for regular-season games had been sold out. In fact, the seats weren't sold out, and the team says it never would have signed the deal to return if told that.
While Alameda County and Oakland are not being directly sued in this case, they will have to cover any legal settlements reached against Ed DeSilva, a local contractor who at the time was a member of the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Inc, which oversaw the activities at the Coliseum complex. DeSilva was lead negotiator for the group, and the city and county agreed to indemnify him because he was acting for the benefit of both agencies.
The selection process was fairly brisk since each potential juror filled out a questionnaire that, among other things, asked who their favorite football team was and whether they knew anybody who had worked for the county or the city.
Attorneys also questioned jurors' ability to pay attention to intricate details and to comprehend the handling of huge sums of money.
Opening statements are scheduled to begin Monday.
And NO OJ jury.

If I were selected as a juror, I would make Al D bribe me with season tickets for life, plus air fare and accomodations for all home games.
Hey, I might as well get something out of it, too, right?
The same impartial league that allows a Skins season ticket holder to consider if that team merits services of a player in contractual free agent arbitration.
The same league that had a person who vocally said he was againt Al Davis and the Raiders and therefore was biased and should have been denied the right to juror previously.
Tag and Al are making unholy alliance to facilitate return to LA, this is the first step...
Doesnt matter to me as long as Raiders keep their personnell and are player loyal they will always have fans.
Would be nice to be the voice of jurors, head juror could maybe submit questions to court to ask defendants...if Tags had to take the stand would be fun to see him sweat.
I for one think Tags is secretly rooting for Al, this is part of money scheme.
If I were to be juror I would demand Raiderettes be allowed to testify and bare all, they could sway jury to see the Raider way is right...Just Litigate Baby!
I would have showed to up to my press interview like this:Original take by RaiderInNY
