Ben Roethlisberger...
I just took a look at the 3-Round Mock Draft an www.****************** and it has the Raiders picking Ben Roethlisberger out of Miami as Quarterback. Now at 6'5" tall, 242 lbs. this guy seems like a solid prospect. He's already Miami's career record holder for pass completions (512) ... ranks second all-time at Miami in career passing yards (6,343) and passing touchdowns (47) and will likely surpass both records early in his junior season ... excellent drop-back passer who also has the ability to throw on the run ... possesses tremendous arm strength and the ability to make all the throws ... enjoyed a strong spring and is getting better with experience ... is a candidate for the Davey O'Brien Award and Heisman Trophy.
What are your thoughts?

I watched him play last night. He looked pretty good. But his team is in that weak mac conference so the lack of talent he has played against can't show how he can play against the nfl players

I saw him in the MAC championship game last night, and have been winning money on this guy and Miami Ohio all year. He's solid. Last night he had a 70 yrd TD pass (went about 40 in the air) to his fullback, after pumpfaking inside to a wide receiver. He put the ball in the only place possible as they say. Hes got touch, zip, size, maturity. I'd love to have him (although i think i'd prefer eli, but not by much). Miami Ohio lost one game all year, August 30 at Iowa. They beat Northwestern, Colorado State. Not exactly powerhouses, but considering that we're talking about Miami of Ohio it's quite an accomplishment. From all the talk, and the interview with his father they did, my guess is that he's coming out for sure this year.

Ben Roethlesberger is a beast of a QB that reminds me of a stouter Chad Pennington. He's a total professional, very cool under pressure, and shows a lot of maturity. He doesn't appear to be a very mobile QB, and he has a slow pass release. Those are just a few minor mechanics changes that under THE CORRECT COACHING STAFF could be corrected.

THE SLOW PASSING RELEASE IS WHAT I HATE, IT REMINDS OF DORKINGTON(NYJ)........I KNOW HIS PASSER RATING IS GOOD BUT WHEN DUDES LOOK LIKE THIER AIMING THE BALL, IT WILL SPELL DOOM FOR THEM SOMEWHERE DOWN THE ROAD.......PHILIP RIVERS(NCST) IS MY CHOICE AT QB....KID IS SICK!!!!

Victories over Colorado State and Northwestern were both on the road. When people talk about the lack of talent he plays against, do you also consider the lack of talent he plays with?
From sportingnews, "He plays with maturity that belies his age. He has developed a knack for reading defenses and getting the RedHawks in the correct play. And he's an underrated athlete who has terrific feet and nifty quickness for a player his size."
I think if we pick outside the top 5 he would be my pick!

I had an opportunity to watch him live during the 2002 season opener at North Carolina. A driving rain storm persisted throughout the entire game. It was a sloppy game with lots of turnovers.
What impressed me most about him that day was the way he handled the whole situation. There were fumbles and dropped passes, it was really wet and he was the cause of some of the mistakes, too. But he stayed collected throughout the whole game, getting ready for the next play.
The Redhawks won that game too, and while NC is no football power, that's pretty good competition.

You also have to remember that Pennington and Leftwich both palyed in the MAC conference as well, and look at what they are doing. He seems to be the same type of player that Leftwich is with his big size, rocket arm, slow delivery and lack of mobility, although they both can move around when they have to. If he plays like Leftwich in the pro's then I think most people here would love to have him on our team.

I say if he lasts until the 3rd round when we are on the clock we need to get him. His slow release can and will be corrected by the right coaching staff. Leftwitch was also a mac quarterback and he is not doing that bad.

If there is any chance he'll go that late he would just stay in school. No way he is not a first rounder.

If he is a 3rd rounder then we should grab him. But in rounds 1-2 we have bigger needs.
