Isn't football emotional?
I don't know that I'd cry or not ... but I'd be quite emotional if I were in marvin's shoes after that game. Perhaps he should have waited until he got home, but I can't fault he or Vermiel for showing thier emotions. Isn't that what a lot of us are in here bitching about Callihan for - no emotional connection or leadership? This isn't a movie, this is life. |

I've got no problem with Bill's lack of emotion. He's even keeled. Plus I'm not in the locker room after games or practices so I don't know what he says or doesn't say to his team. I'll tell you one thing I've coached football a long time maybe not the pros but up to high school level. And as the person the team looks towards for leadership I'll be damned if I would cry in front of them. Barring a tragedy like a death of a player (God forbid) the only emotions I would show my team is either anger or elation. Crying is not an option.

I just think Marvin was proud of his team. And he should be.

Dude was weeping like a little baby (must of taken advice from vermiel)
Still, its amazing how he turned the bungles from complete laughingstocks into playoff contenders in his first year. That team has been a joke the past decade or so, until now. |

"The Lions are a heck of a team" We didn't exacute very well on special teams and we had some turn overs that hurt us and mentally made mistakes that cost us. After the Cinnci game he said "We are fortunate to play them early they are a very good team" Looks as if he was right. I think sometimes an emotinal coach can distract from what going on. Remember Gruden in the Snow job forgot what down it was. I seen other coach do simular things. Did you ever see Wooden coach basketball cold as ice. Altough our season been a tail spin I dont see it as a complete failure due to Callahan. Just as Tampas means Gruden an average coach. A lot of things hurt us this year and I think Callihan will prove himself.

Agreed Blitz. I don't think a coach goes from genious to moron in a span of 8-10 months. I do think players can have let downs in their performance from previous seasons. Look at the Pats and the Rams last season both missed the playoffs the year after going to the Superbowl, same thing with the Ravens and Giants the year before. Every coach has there own style. The ranting and raving works for Parcells, the stoic approach works for Bellichec yopu never see him going nuts on the sidelines nad he's coached with Bill. Both have won Superbowls. I can tell you one thing most coaches (Parcells, Ditka) that use the hell and brimstone approach seem to burn out quicker than the one that don't ( Siefert, Flores). Eventually all coaches wear out there welcome with a team its just a natural progression. I think Callahans time with the Raiders will also someday be up. But I think he deserves at least 2 more seasons before hes judged as to the kind of coach he is or isn't.

...rather than some emotionLESS coach who inherited a system from Gruden, can't control or instill any type of discipline in his team, Has his amount of HEART questioned in public by his players, went to the superbowl and got blownout TWICE in the SAME GAME (by the team's previous coach that all the "Hardcore" fans wish had never left) only to return the following season and be the laughing stock of the nfl and definitely the AFC West at 3-7 by the week 11 mark. Basically Give me the guy that cries, wins, and has the respect of his players(Vermeil or Lewis)...than some droid who loses and gets called out in the media by his players (Callahan). Speaking on Marvin Lewis, he stated that he made an actual effort to bring in players with character and not just athletic ability. He seems to be in control of Dillon so far and thats saying alot. Lewis has served his time as an assistant in BAL and under thats asshole Snyder in Washington and he FINALLY gets the chance to prove himself with a team that was at the bottom of the league barrell for over a decade and make them playoff contenders. I hated the fact the Chiefs lost to Cincy but after the post-game speech by Lewis, the reactions of the players and fans, and how much that win actually meant to the city as a whole...I have to say felt alot better about the loss than I did when the clock expired at the end of the game and I have a much greater respect for Lewis as a coach. Yall can talk about him crying all you want but the bottmline is that he's doing a terrific job with the Bengals thus far and has them in alot better shape from a post-season standpoint than anybody could have possibly conceived during the pre-season and off-season.

SAGA I have but two things to say.
1) In your heart of hearts you would consider a 2-14 season a success if those two wins were against the Raiders 2) Last I check your team hasn't won **** since Hank Stram. |
