When we see the day that the elementry schools in Compton, Ca, are just as nice, with just as good of equipment, books, and computers as the elementry school in Beverly Hills, we will see more Black business owners and CEOs. Unfortunately, there isn't. And there's no excuse for it. These are PUBLIC SCHOOLS, the money should be distrubuted evenly. All donations should be distrubuted to all schools equally. NO PRIVATIZATION of public education!

I champion Jessie Jackson's causes. And he is not a racist, as some idiots on this forum suggest. Trent Lott is a racist. Jessie Jackson is an activist for equality. And since black people, on an overall economic and educational scale, are still NOT NEARLY equal to white people, Jessie and others like him have a lot of work to do.

But I think Jackson's movement would be more effective in the long run if he focused it more on public education, as opposed to the private sector. Campaign financing should be the primary focus by Jackson's coalition if they must target the private sector. He'll dig up a lot more dirt that effects black people there than he will questioning the hiring practices of business owners. And I mean A LOT more dirt.

Damn...who ressurected this post from the dead? Riny, where do you get off dissin' Bill Cosby? He is one of the few African American leaders that I feel is correct on many of the problems that plague the Black community today! I can understand some resentment towards Al Sharpton but why Bill Cosby? What has Cliff Huxtable ever done to you?

And by the way, Al Davis is right! A wise man once said that you can create as many laws as you want but you can't legislate a man's heart. Al shouldn't be forced into doing something that he doesn't believe in. Big Al has done more than any other owner to promote diversity in the NFL. God Bless Al Davis!!!

This brings up the point that I've been trying to bring to anyones mind that will listen...for years and years. Al Davis HAS done more for minorities in this sport than this entire league will EVER care to admit. And ALL minorities, not just 'blacks'. It's AD's willingness to never remain status quo that rubs all of these good 'ol boys the wrong way. You can't help those who don't help themselves. JJ should hook compton up with a gats for books drive if this were the problem. People do have a choice they don't need to stay in the ghetto. I see Mexicans straight from the border bustin ass in the fields of california earning money, they aren't complaining about education, they aren't out shooting eachother. They are setting themselves up for the future. I know guys that hardly speak any english driving better cars than alot of the people I know. Fact of the matter is there is plenty of jobs out there for minorities, but some would rather sell crack and rob people for a living. Guns for hammers, bullets for nails now build yourself a future.
