Happy Birthday to La'roi Glover...
Sup Raidernation!
Today (4th July) is ex-raiders DT La'roi Glover's birthday...
Raider related why? BECAUSE THIS IS A HUGE REMINDER WHY WE NEED TO GIVE ALL OF OUR PLAYERS A CHANCE TO COMPETE IN THE NFL!!!
Tui, Fargas, Gabriel, Francis, Morant, Teyo, Courtney Anderson, Sam Williams, Shurron, Cody Spencer, AGB, Grant, Tommy Kelly, Schweigert, Nash, Asomugha all need to get their chances, as they are players who have the potential to make it big elsewhere if we can't give them a shot-CAN'T LET ANOTHER PRO BOWL TALENT SLIP AWAY!

SO what...you miss some, win some!
Your not going to take on EVERY young player you have on your roster! You make the best decision possible, and you dont even think about that player going on to a solid career. Sometimes it happens, you say to yourself, we shouldve kept him, other times, you'll say...who ever knew he would be that good?
Players work ethics change maybe in changing teams, theyre style maybe suited for other systems, other coaches get the best out of him etc...too many factors.
What's funny is, many of the fans on this board, as with EVERY team, and every fan of other teams in the NFL feel that they have 'great talent, that is ready to break out if given the opportunity'.
Believe me, most of the time, they dont and are just ok to mediocre talent. Its the truth!
You said..."Tui, Fargas, Gabriel, Francis, Morant, Teyo, Courtney Anderson, Sam Williams, Shurron, Cody Spencer, AGB, Grant, Tommy Kelly, Schweigert, Nash, Asomugha all need to get their chances"
If 3 or 4 of these guys make it and play on to have a solid NFL career, be happy with that!
Tui- maybe in limbo knowing that Collins is definately here for the long haul, Gannon isnt, how does he bump himself up after being drafted by S&B a few years back.
Fargas...How many threads say this guy will be a 'break out talent' etc...He has a history of knee problems (not a good thing at all), has never played through a season without injuries (college or pro, last season his rookie season), and hasnt showed instintive vision that makes 'great' running backs. He has speed, and thats it! His hands as a pass receiver are ok at best, and now he has to compete with 3 or 4 other just ok backs...he better show it now!
Gabriel...again, people talking about this kids emergence...The Raiders are planning that this kid will take over the 3rd or 4th WR spot...they definately want him to be the kick-off return man, especially after displaying his ability to do it well last season. He is developing, and a project just like Morant right now! He'll have touches this season though...
Francis and Morant: Projects, and hopefully guys that can SURPRISE. They view Morant just like J.Porter a few years back...someone who hopefully develops good WR skills, and then they can utilize his prototype body as a viable WR. Francis could have the more impact this season due to his speed IF he makes the team. He isnt a good route runner, has problems getting jammed at the line, he is working on his releases of the line of scrimmage, and his hands. The speed he posses may blind the Raiders for a bit, you know how much Al loves speed!
Teyo...Well, he is ready to finally be a good receiver. He was AWFULL last year at any special teams aspect he was involved in, he dopped a bunch of passes while running just horrible routes. He has sharpen up with Norv and could really make the Raider alot better in the Red Zone!
Courtney Anderson- Just hope he makes the team, then we'll talk.
Sam WIlliams...converted to DE last season, he wasnt able to fight off OL blocking consistently, loss some of his speed with him gaining some weight, and injuries slowed his development. If he is sucessfull in the NFL, it has to be at a LB.
Shurron...Well, again...a special team definate this year, they LOVED his motor on punt returns and kick-offs last season and hope he shines there. As a LB, well...developing under Rob Ryan, and they hope in 2 to 3 years they have a starter who can pass rush at LB.
Cody SPencer- :vomit: Ok guys...maybe he has to show something in camp 1st.
AGB- Solid player, may not have much upside, but, with his work ehtic could be a solid pro, not spectacular at various spots at the DL.
D.Grant...last shot, believe me! Read older post to see my opinion of this kid!
Asoumgha, they love him, he'll play...dont worry!
Scweigert...read above comments!
