The Jets play in the New York Metropolitan area. Most of the people who go the games are from New York. The Jets are a New York team, they practice in New York and do everything in New York except play their games, which is in the NY Metro area and is around 15 minutes from NY,

The reason the "Raider nation" is so big is because of bandwagoners. All teams that have been successfull through out the years have followings all over the country (Miami, Dallas, San Francisco, Green Bay). There is nothing special about Raider fans compared to fans of the teams I mentioned.

What part of Westchester are you from 85? I grew up most of my adult life in the Peekskill/Ossining area? The Jets actually used to train at Peekskill Military Academy, way back in the day.
